"Royalty? Me? Nah I'm just a lesser noble. If anyone is royalty except for the spirit king its Byakuya." he replied. That was the truth really. He was the head of one of the four main noble families. He looked at her and tilted his head trying to see how she could look scary. "Nope still can't picture you as scary. Maybe the kids were blinded by your beauty" He added this last bit as a bit of flirting.

Azuki smiled a bit. Makuro was a flirty one. "Yeah, whoever would have guessed, huh? But I was somthing of an ice queen growing up. Must have intimidated them, dunno," she smiled. "Anyways, I can't imagine people being uptight around you at all. Doesn't fit your persona." She looked at him for a moment. How could anyone think this guys was uptight?

Makuro shrugged. "So basically you were a female Hitsugaya?" he joked with a smile. "As for me being uptight....people just think i'm gonna be like Byakuya or even Kira because i'm a noble." he shrugged again. "People who know me come to realise i'm not. The only similarity I have is that I will almost always obey the rules of seireitei and my family to the letter, but unlike Byakuya I understand that in some cases rules have to be bent or even broken for the good of the Fumaseki family and that of Seireitei." He smiled at her thinking about what to say next.

She glanced away momentarily. "A female Hitsugaya-taichou? Never heard that one, actually. Usually, I'm compared to Nanao-san," she let out a small laugh. "I understand rule following, but when do you know the boundaries between a good rule, that needs to be followed to the word, or a rule that you can bend? It is subjective, and each person cannot tell he other where to start or stop. It just makes me wonder, I guess."
She took another sip of her sake, finishing off the glass. Instead of asking for more, she began to drink her milk. So many mysteries surrounded the peaceful world they longed for, but what could they do?

Makuro tilted his head considering this. "Pretty, yet cold. Yes that describes Nanao perfectly." he said with a smile. "But it does not do you justice. I would use beautiful and warm." He added with a definate flirting tone to his voice. "Then again you might turn out to be beautiful and cold like a snowflake." he smiled. "Either way you will be beautiful." He considered her next point. It was a very well made point he had to admit.
"All rules must be followed to the word unless the situation demands it." he replied with a nod before refilling his own glass of sake. "Learning when the situation demands a rule be bent or broken requires great vision and judgement. Something I believe I am near to achieving." Thus far he had never been in a situation where a rule needed to be bent or broken. However, he knew of a situation when he would. To gain his vengeance and return his family honour.

"Ah, thank you. I prefer to be warm, as cold is usually associated with death," Azuki sarcastically replied, a hint of playfulness in her tone and face. "It sounds like your breaking rules will be different from Byakuya-taichou, if the rumors about that are right. Which, rumors rarely are." She let a content sigh escape from her, leaning back in the chair, looking around the bar. At this time, a few more people began to trickle in, though not as many as before. "Anyway, do you mind your current lifestyle? It probably isn't as lavish as what you're used to."

"Well it means spending less time at my family's ancestral manor, but I am glad of that." he said with a tilt of his head and a shrug. "Painful memories." He thought about the change for a moment. "To be honest I prefer doing things myself and earning what I have rather then having it handed to me. It makes me feel like I actually deserve it." he chuckled.
"I'm probabaly one of the few who thinks like that though. I mean imagine how Byakuya-taichou would be if he wasn't a noble?" He looked at her. "He wouldn't have his hair like that for one thing...bet he wouldn't be as uptight either." he shrugged. "Then again maybe that is just who he is."

Azuki mused for a moment. Of course, if Byakuya-tachiou was not a noble, his manner and air would seem haughty and arrogant, not intimidating and superior. At the same time, others did not truly know what they were. For all she knew, Azuki could have been of noble birth and lost as an infant. Yet, nobility did almost match Makuro, at least the initial ideals of nobility.
"Your home life sounds like a drag, no offense," Azuki finally replied, smiling a bit. "Then again, isn't everyone's? I mean, who wants to live with their parents or grandparents or family for their whole lives? I would want a few years to myself, at least. To figure out the world... and life. But that is just a shop girl's ramblings, I guess."

Makuro's face sunk at the mention of parents. "I lost both my parents...the day I became a member of the seventh squad." he said quietly, but did not elaborate. In truth his father still lived, but he was not the father Makuro had grown up with. He was a vizard and a traitor and would one day die by Makuro's hand when he found him. "I don't know what is worse, never having parents or losing them, but either way life was difficult." He downed a glass of sake so quickly even Matsumoto would be hard put to go quicker.

Alarmed by the speed of his alcohol consumption, Azuki decided to stay away from that subject for the moment. True, she lived a full childhood in the care of a kindly, old lady, she never even knew her parents. For all she knew, her parents could be dead, royalty, traitors, or any number of things. The thought always depressed her, and she seldom told others about such things.
"Understandable enough, even to someone without any," Azuki began, "But not my main point. I guess I would prefer to live life than be caged up like an experiment or some fragile doll on a shelf. Let's face it, being a shinigami is not exactly pain free." She held up her arms, showing the cuts and bruises she accumulated through her early morning training, smile playing on her lips. "At least, I know I am living it, rather than sitting and rotting away somewhere, with nothing worth while to do."
